The Sixth Louisiana Militia Regiment
23 December 1814
The 6th Louisiana led by Colonel Declouets was located at English Turn, which was in the rear area of the British advance brigade. However, the Louisianans were commanded by the dithering Brigadier-General Morgan who took no action despite orders from Jackson and urging of Col. Declouets. Only when the U.S.S. Louisiana opened fire and the 6th officers clamored to march to the sound of the guns did
Morgan finally relent, and they slowly moved towards the British. After running
to a British picket, the advance of the 6th L.A. panicked and ran for
the main battalion. The 6th remained in line formation until about
2am and then withdrew back to English Turn. The Greatest Fury, p. 117.
